Ongoing Protests in Serbia and Impact on Mobility

Serbia has been experiencing widespread protests since November 2024, following a tragic incident on November 1st, 2024, when the canopy of the Novi Sad Railway Station collapsed, resulting in 15 fatalities and two severe injuries. University students have taken the lead in demanding accountability for this disaster, with protests growing in size and frequency across the country.
In Belgrade, as well as other cities, major demonstrations are taking place, impacting mobility and local services. Notably, on January 27th, 2025, a significant intersection in Belgrade will be blocked for 24 hours, signaling the intensifying momentum of the protests.

While the situation remains fluid, the protests are beginning to influence transportation and mobility in Serbia, particularly in urban centers like Belgrade. The long-term impact on the functioning of institutions and other services remains uncertain.
